To support Wärtsilä’s continuous journey of digital transformation, we are creating a new strategic role within the IM (Information Management) function: Competence Development Lead, Information Management. This role will be instrumental in shaping and executing IM’s digital and competence development roadmaps, and ensuring our people are empowered with the skills and capabilities needed to thrive in a digital-first future.
The location for this position is Wärtsilä Campus in Salmisaari, Helsinki, Finland. We work in hybrid mode. This role will report to Director, CIO Office, Information Management.
Your role and responsibilities
- Strategic Roadmap Development: Design and lead the creation of IM’s digital and competence development roadmaps in alignment with business strategies and transformation goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders across all levels to gather requirements, identify capability and competence gaps, and translate them into actionable competence development initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Work in close partnership with IM teams, HR, Learning & Development, and external partners to co-create and deliver impactful learning journeys and digital enablement programs.
- Operational Execution: Drive the implementation of development initiatives, ensuring timely delivery, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement.
- Change Enablement: Act as a change agent to foster a culture of continuous learning, digital fluency, and innovation across the organization.
- Performance Measurement: Define and track KPIs to assess the effectiveness of development programs and their impact both on business and IM’s performance and digital maturity.
To succeed in this role, you need to have:
- Proven experience in digital transformations, change management, learning & development, or strategic capability building in a global organization.
- Strong understanding of digital technologies, trends, and their impact on business and people development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage complex stakeholder landscapes.
- Experience in working with external vendors and partners to co-develop learning solutions.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and project management skills.
- Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capabilities.
