What kind of an Agile Coach we are looking for
We are seeking a Agile Coach who will act as a scrum master, change agent, and teacher - helping not only teams but also the wider organization to make incremental changes with the goal of improving the overall product development capabilities in Wärtsilä’s Digital Product Development organization.
We are currently in our third year of a thoughtful adoption of the LeSS framework in which we strive to simplify organizational complexity while implementing our own unique people-centric ways of working.
The preferred location for this position is Helsinki, Finland. Although this position follows a hybrid work model and remote work is supported, employees are expected to work onsite at the office 2-3 days per week.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
You will play a crucial role in exposing and addressing organizational impediments that hinder adaptability. We want you to help create an environment where teams are empowered, they maintain product focus, and are continuously learning.
It is also important to foster and support technical communities to create a shared vision of practices.
You'll work closely with product development staff to facilitate technical excellence and maximize simplicity.
You'll collaborate closely with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to ensure coherence in ways of working, coaching and organizational development.
Supporting People Managers and stakeholders during their evolution in a LeSS organization is also part of your daily job description.
Your core responsibilities in bullet points:
Coach multiple teams in self-management, transparency and systems thinking
Teach and demonstrate how to apply LeSS principles in daily work activities
Foster improvement of technical practices through cultivation of a continuous learning culture
Help teams and other stakeholders learn how to identify and resolve organizational dysfunctions that prevent progress towards product organization goals
Actively work with managers, leaders and developers to support the LeSS adoption and evolve organizational structures
Facilitate Scrum events only when needed with the goal of having teams and other stakeholders learn how to effectively execute and facilitate independently
What is DPD at Wärtsilä and what do they do:
Digital Product Development (DPD) develops digital products for Wärtsilä’s Marine and Energy business units. One of our well-known products is Wärtsilä Expert Insight, which uses real-time engine data to detect and predict maintenance needs.
Currently, DPD consists of 120+ product developers organized into 11 teams. We have several scrum masters who support these teams, and one PO who sets the vision and direction in which the teams develop our products.
As a department, we are very flat and promote actively non-hierarchical, agile ways of working. We have an amazing team and we are excited about our work and the impact it has on building sustainable societies. We are looking to find a colleague with this shared passion for smart technologies and a sustainable future.
Why you and us?
We at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership and taking responsibility of our work. We support each other’s growth and co-creation is the true basis of our innovation. We have courage to see opportunities and take initiative. We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe in that by being your own trueself you can accomplish so much more.
We don’t always get it right the first time, mistakes are made, we make sure to learn and grow from them. We want everyone to voice their opinions freely. That is why we have built an environment that empowers you and everyone around you, and where you can feel safe and cared for. Are you eager to be part of this ambition?
At Wärtsilä we value, respect and embrace all our differences, and are committed to diversity, inclusion and equal employment opportunities; everyone can be their true self and succeed based on their job-relevant merits and abilities.
